This includes Baby Bounce, Storytime, after-school activities, school-holiday activities, HSC seminars, author talks and information sessions. I also look after the children’s and youth collections at the library and select items to be included in the collections. This includes children’s DVDs and the Premier’s Reading Challenge collection, which is my favourite part of work. What else do you like about your job? I love everything about my job. I love the customer aspect of it because I enjoy interacting with members of the community and helping people with their information needs. I also enjoy planning children’s programs, especially the after-school activities, as it’s a way to get my creative juices flowing. What’s the biggest challenge? Keeping on top of technology. Every day we’re introduced to new technology and new ways of doing things. It’s challenging, but also rewarding when you finally figure out how things work. What do you like most about working at Strathfield? Working with my colleagues at the library. We have a lot of similar interests and get along well. There’s also a lot of teamwork involved at the library and I enjoy being able to work in a team when I’m able. What’s your favourite place in Strathfield? Homebush village is just down the road from the library. I enjoy walking down on my lunch break and getting a much needed cup of coffee. I always see familiar faces, especially those of the parents and children who attend our Storytime sessions on Wednesdays.
