But it was all smiles as the executives of Bendigo Bank and their staff and shareholders celebrated a decade of success in Homebush. The party, held at Strathfield Golf Club, saw flowers for the staff, a cheque for the Chalmers Road School and manager Emmanuel Vatalis try a hammock. At Strathfield Rotary’s Police Officer of the Year Awards on Wednesday, August 22, officers from Flemington and Burwood Local Area Command were recognised for their hard work and dedication. There were 12 finalists from both police stations. 1. Burwood’s winner Sergeant Ben Beach and wife; 2. Sergeant Ben Beach receiving his award from Inspector Miller and Rotary President Ray Wilson; 3. Flemington’s winner, Sergeant Steven Coe and wife; 4. Inspector Miller, Ray Wilson and Sergeant Vanessa Hadley; 5. Flemington’s Inspector Hill and Deputy Commissioner of Field Operations, Nick Kaldas; 6. Ray Wilson and finalist Sergeant Leah Greig. 1 2 4 3 5 6 Guitarist and songwriter extraordinaire Tommy Emmanuel visited the students at Meriden, delighting them with a special performance. Emmanuel took the time out from his Australian tour to highlight his unique musical styles and techniques to around 100 music students and to give the girls an insight into what it’s like to be a professional musician. Meriden School held a gallery exhibition on Friday, August 24 to showcase the beautiful and provocative artwork of the school’s year 12 visual arts students.
