Why dId yOu ChOOSe TO lIve In STRAThfIeld? I love how I feel like it is the centre of Sydney. It’s close to everything and the community here is so welcoming and, most of all, multicultural. There is such a range of diversity here. Why dId yOu MOve TO AuSTRAlIA? I came to film and television production from Zimbabwe and after I finished studying, I decided to stay. There are so many censorship laws in Zimbabwe, so I wouldn’t have been able to make documentaries, which is what I want to do. WhAT’S The BeST pART ABOuT lIvIng In AuSTRAlIA? We have so much freedom of speech, freedom of expression and democracy. It’s so rare. In many other countries, people don’t have the same opportunities. WhAT’S The MOST IMpORTAnT ThIng TO yOu ABOuT lIvIng In Sydney? This is the place where I can thrive in my industry. I’ve already made two documentaries about Zimbabwe and I wouldn’t have been able to do that in my home country. It was important to me that I move to a country which had economic stability. WhAT ARe The BIggeST dIffeRenCeS BeTWeen heRe And ZIMBABWe? The censorship laws are a lot tighter there. Zimbabwe is a beautiful country but it’s still a Third World country. Australia has so much opportunity. WhAT ARe yOu WORkIng On nOW? Currently I’m working at an aged-care facility in western Sydney. I enjoy working with older people because you get to hear some great stories. I’m going to start another documentary soon but I’m still thinking of some ideas. Also, I’m waiting to get some funding from different organisations.
