2 Strathfield Scene We wish you a Happy and Prosperous New Year see you in 2011 What is the best thing about volunteering? a sense of giving something back to the community now that i have some time to do so. hoW did you get involved in the meals on Wheels volunteer program? When we first moved to the area, my wife margaret initially volunteered after meeting with a neighbour who was also a volunteer. What has been the oddest situation you’ve been in? When i misread our calendar and got a frantic phone call from the co-ordinator wanting to know where i was as the deliveries were waiting to go out! i set a record getting from Wentworth point to homebush. tell us about a positive experience you’ve been in? driving our clients to a special luncheon that we hold every three months. hoW long have you been volunteering? about three years. What’s your favourite part about volunteering in strathfield? the delightful clients we meet on our rounds and the friendship of the other volunteers. What do you do When you are not volunteering? i still work part-time in my consultancy business; i serve on the owner’s corporation executive committee of a large strata plan; spend time walking and camping with my family.
