Why did you decide to join the SeS? i thought it would be a good way to meet and help new people but also to learn new skills. What’S the beSt part of the job? i would have to say the best part of the job is the relationships that you make with the people that you volunteer with. hoW long WaS training? the process of training is ongoing and there are different components. i’m currently doing a certificate ii in public Safety. What’S the beSt part about living in the area? the tree-lined streets and the federation homes. it’s a lovely area. What haS been the WeirdeSt Situation you’ve been in? Standing in a resident’s roof while it was cold, stormy and windy shining a torch light through the tiles in the roof trying to figure out where there were leaks. it’s amazing what you find in people’s roofs. hoW long have you been living in the area? i’ve been living in homebush for about 15 months now. Why did you move to homebuSh? i was living in Western australia before and there are five generations of my family that have been living around this area. i moved here to be closer to my family. SuPPort For PaKiStan Within hours of the Pakistani floods, a unique support program, partly funded in Strathfield, swung into action to help the victims. essential supplies in a Shelterbox were assembled and airlifted to the needy. now the Strathfield rotary club is fundraising to help send as many boxes as possible – rotaract and interact clubs are also fundraising. the Shelterboxes are made of heavy duty plastic and contain essentials for a family of 10, such as a tent, water containers, water filtration systems, kitchen utensils, gas cooker, blankets and ground sheets. to get involved contact Strathfield rotary club on pgiammar@optusnet. com.au or visit www.shelterboxaustralia. com.au. need a JP?
