AUGUST EVENTS CALENDAR e Bedroom Philosopher By Bernadette Chua "Comedic" and "hilariously wi y" are just some of the words you can use to describe e Bedroom Philosopher's eclectic musical style, which is frequently compared with the TV show Flight of the Conchords. e Bedroom Philosopher, aka, Justin Hazelwood, is currently touring Australia with the Awkwarstra, a group of handpicked musicians from Melbourne's self-help group, Indie Snobs Anonymous. is intelligently cra ed performance showcases songs from Hazelwood's new album Songs from the 86 Tram and features him playing a range of instruments, including sitar and electric bass. Songs for the album were inspired by an accident on a tram line in Melbourne in which Hazelwood rode his pushbike into an open car door. Each track on Songs from the 86 Tram satirises not only the culture of Melbourne, but focuses on stereotypical groups -- soccer mums, indie musicians, bogans and businessmen. Hazlewood, a Tasmanian-born musician, comedian, author and songwriter, rst performed this show at the Melbourne Comedy Festival in 2009 and has been in great demand ever since -- performing widely on TV and radio.
