However the highest price paid for a luxury home in Strath eld, which is on the golden mile at 54-56 Llandilo Avenue, was $5.75 million in 2007. e $5 million purchase price for Chalmers Street is well above the median house price for the area which is $1.11 million according to Australian Property Monitors. e auction a racted a lot of local a ention with more than 400 people turning up to watch the on-site auction and 16 people registering to bid. e sale continues the strong growth at the top end of the property market in Strath eld over recent months. Joseph Georges, co-director of Georges Ellis & Co, which sold the house, says that buyer demand remains buoyant. " ere's a buzz around town," says Georges. "It just shows the appetite for good properties in the area." e recently-built house on Chalmers Street features ve to six large bedrooms, four en-suite bathrooms, a 30-seater formal dining room, his and her o ces, a three-car garage, a tennis court, swimming pool and four courtyards. e home, which occupies a large block just over 2000 square metres, also o ers integrated IT, audio, intercom, lighting and security systems and remote-controlled pay television throughout the house. "It's on a perfect parcel of land, but you have to see the internal [space] to believe it," says the agent. " e whole design is breathtaking." e sustainable design was considered to be one of the great selling points of the two storey home which was said to be inspired by the great American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. "We designed a contemporary home which took advantage of the northerly orientation and maximised solar access," said a spokesperson for BT Partnership Architects. " is created sun drenched, landscaped courtyards, which owed through to the internal living spaces. "We wanted to create an open style, which encouraged entertainment and family life, but also allowed absolute privacy."
